Past News - March 2001
More than 400 people attended the SEN/ICT Update days organised by the CALL Centre in Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Hamilton in March 2001. Participants had an opportunity to see and try out products from 15 of the leading UK suppliers of software and ICT equipment for people with special educational needs.

The following suppliers attended the event: AbilityNet Scotland, Cambridge Adaptive Communication, Concept Northern, Crick Software, Don Johnston Special Needs, DreamWriter Solutions, iANSYST Ltd, Liberator, Penfriend, QED 2000, RM Ltd, SEMERC, Sensory Software and Widgit Software.
Each supplier had an opportunity to give a one-hour presentation on their products in addition to providing information from their exhibition stalls.
Unfortunately, Words WorldWide had to withdraw at the last minute and Inclusive Technology were unable to attend the Hamilton event due to staff illness.

Participants included teachers, therapists, advisers, parents and voluntary sector staff. Here’s what some of them said:
"I found this VERY informative, not only for myself as a parent of a son who is physically disabled, but also for friends who have children with other difficulties."
"Excellent idea to get all these providers together for a day. Every year please!!!"
"Thank you. Really enjoyed the day. Relaxed and well-timetabled - plenty of time to talk to exhibitors."
We hope to repeat the ICT/SEN Update in 2002. If you would like to receive information please contact The CALL Centre. We will get back to you when we have definite information.
The CALL Centre is grateful for the assistance provided by The University of Edinburgh, TASSCC, Aberdeen City Council and South Lanarkshire Council in organising these days. We would also like to thank the various suppliers who attended the event and the Scottish Executive Education Department's Innovation Grant Programme for their support.
