    A number of books have been published over the past couple of years on the use of technology to help pupils with special educational needs. The following titles can be consulted in the CALL Centre Library:

    • Blamires, Mike (Ed) (1999) Enabling Technology for Inclusion Pub. Paul Chapman Publishing ISBN 1 85396 394 1(£19.99)This book describes current practice and considers what is needed in planning to meet the needs of learners with special needs, securing access to appropriate IT and training those who will be using it.
       
    • Crivelli, Victoria (2000) Write to Read with ICT Pub. SEN Marketing, ISBN 1 903842 02 8 (£8.50) A guide to helping dyslexic pupils acquire literacy skills through the medium of ICT.
       
    • Donegan, Mick (1999) Computers and Inclusion Pub. ACE Centre, £4.00. This is a nice, short booklet (32 pages) using short case studies to look at different ways in which technology can be used to assist children with disabilities.
       
    • Hardy, Colin (2000) Information and Communications Technology for All Pub. David Fulton, ISBN 1 85346 673 5 (£ 15.00) Less emphasis on the actual technology than in the Keates book, and more on the assessment process used to find the most appropriate technology for a pupil with learning difficulties.     • Hillage, Di (2000) Count on Your Computer Pub. SEN Marketing, ISBN 1 903842 00 X (£7.50) An overview of the difficulties experienced by pupils with dyslexia in acquiring numeracy skills and ICT solutions to support them.
       
    • Keates, Anita (2000) Dyslexia and Information and Communications Technology Pub. David Fulton, ISBN 1 85346 651 4 (£13.00). This book (88 pages) includes sections on technology, the writing process, word processing, curriculum-related software and software used to screen for dyslexia.
       
    • McKeown, Sally (2000) Unlocking Potential Pub. Questions Publishing Company ISBN 1 84180 041 9. (£12.99) General review of the subject, including accessing SEN information on the internet and reviews of hardware and software.
