    Draft Consultation on the Code of Practice for the ASL Act

    The Scottish Executive has published the Draft Consultation on the Code of Practice for the Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004. Consultation responses are due in to the Executive by 25th February 2005. At the same time they have published several other documents related to the new ASL Act.

    The Draft Code of Practice Additional Support Needs 02

    The Code of Practice that will be the guidance local authorities and other agencies will have to have regard to when interpreting the new ASL Act.

    Policy paper on other appropriate agencies to help in exercise of any function under the Act Additional Support Needs 03

    Refers to the other appropriate agencies who may be called on under the new Act for example social work and health.

    The Education (Co-ordinated Support Plan) (Scotland) Regulations 2005 (draft) Additional Support Needs 04

    Regulations that will apply on Co-ordinated Support Plan - opening, reviewing, ending etc.

    The Additional Support for Learning (Changes in School Education) (Scotland) Regulations 2005 (draft) Additional Support Needs 05

    New regulations defining what a change in school education means. This could be where a child starts pre-school education or where an education authority transfer a child or young person to another school under their management, for example.

    Policy papers on resolution of disagreements between parents and schools or education authorities Additional Support Needs 06

    Sets out the arrangements for dispute resolution.

    Policy paper on publication of information by the education authority Additional Support Needs 07

    Calling on local authorities to publish how it will undertake its various duties under the Act. For example its arrangements for identifying children and young people with additional support needs.

    The Scottish Executive has also provided a selection of supporting documents, which may be of interest to you.
